Tips lead police to stolen beer
"NEW SHARON -- Dogged police work by a Franklin County officer Wednesday along with tips from the community solved what may not have been a major crime but did recover two cases of stolen beer.
The $40 worth of Old Milwaukee and Pabst Blue Ribbon were lifted from a beer delivery truck as the driver was bringing his order into the Sandy River Farm Supply on U. S. Route 2 in New Sharon at about 10 a.m., according to Cpl. Nathan Bean of the Franklin County sheriff's office....
Bean drove in, spotted the beer stashed in the open garage and spoke to Alex Johnson, 18, who admitted the theft, the officer said. Johnson and Devin Ferreira, 18, of 25 Industry Road in New Sharon were both summoned for theft.
'When I asked (Johnson) why he did it, he said he thought it was a good idea at the time,' Bean said."
