Man Found Naked And Drunk Inside Deli

CUMBERLAND -- A Lincoln man allegedly caught naked and drunk inside a local deli after closing hours is facing a disorderly conduct charge.

Spyridon Passios, 38, of 117 John St., had permission to stay overnight in Jim’s Deli at 1700 Mendon Road by business owner, George Sofikitis, according to police.

But Passios apparently surprised a customer dropping off a video at Blockbuster Video late Saturday night who saw Passios through the deli’s store front window and then called police.

Patrolman Paul Gagnon reported he could clearly see Passios pacing back and forth, yelling into a cell phone. The officer pounded on the door to get Passios attention after he went into a back room. When he saw police, he put on his underpants and disappeared into the back of the store again.

After repeatedly knocking on the door to no avail, Gagnon called fire and a rescue crew. Fire fighters broke a lock and officers were able to gain entrance. They found Passios lying on a back room work table with pillows and a blanket.

Passios was transported to Landmark Medical Center for an alcohol evaluation before being brought to police headquarters where he was charged and released on summons to appear in Sixth District Court.

Passios told police he’d been staying inside the deli the past several nights and had been at a Greek festival in Pawtucket earlier with the business owner before being dropped off at the deli.
