Drunk plucked from scaffolding
A DOZING Exmouth drunk triggered a major emergency alert when he fell asleep after climbing 50 feet up scaffolding outside a Torquay nightclub.
But the reveller received a rude awakening when officers scaled the heights using a fire service hydraulic platform to hand him an £80 fine.
Around 200 clubbers watched the drama unfold outside Park Lane nightclub, on Torquay harbourside, last Saturday night.
Police, firefighters and ambulance crews sprinted to the scene after the alarm was raised around 10.30pm.
The man, 23, who has not been named, was later plucked from his lofty perch after fears were raised he might jump from the roof.
