"Would you like a beer with that popcorn?

Moviegoers may be asked that question if the CinemaStar Theater in the Mission Market Place is successful in its bid for a beer license.

It would be the first movie theater in the county to sell alcohol but not the only one in the state.

Robin Van Dyke, district supervisor for the state Alcoholic Beverage Control Department, said there are two such theaters in Los Angeles County, but they also contain full restaurants.

And a theater in Oakland holds both a beer and wine license, she said."
